are you confidently nourishing your family?

We all know we need to eat more fruits and vegetables, and that they are healthy for us...right?  Yet
how much do we consume on a daily basis?  Weekly?  I'll tell you...with my family, it was not nearly enough!
How about greens...they are more nutritious than what grows under the ground!  Beets-vs-beet greens...parsley-vs-parsnip...carrots-vs-carrot tops...the greens win every time!!!  How many greens do you consume a week...uh...probably not enough!

It's so easy to give your kid:  baby food, formula, cheerios, string cheese, crackers, juice boxes, popsicles, applesauce, lunch meats, jelly, etc. and it's all junk food...and take a look at how it's packaged.  It's so hard to get your kid to eat veggies and greens...therefore we stick with the unhealthy, easy snacks.  Think though, not only is there no nutrition, but there is additives, extra sugar, refined and chemically altered ingredients in all of it.  Natural flavorings...ha...another way of blanketing horrible additives..educate yourself about what it is you are feeding your family.

If these things have got you thinking...maybe you're ready for some Baby steps; have veggie tray for lunch a couple of times a week; make smoothies for breakfast (2 cups water, 60% fruit or berries to 40% greens.); eat healthy homemade desserts you can feel GREAT about giving your child...anytime!  (I'll share recipes soon.)  I cannot believe my child eats green smoothies and LOVES them...he's 3 and he's eating spinach and romaine, parsley and kale, and he's happy to do it.
Now when I have a salad for dinner he's reaching for my plate to munch on lettuce, cabbage, and broccoli!  It's blowing my mind!  He freely eats carrots, zucchini, pea pods...everything raw.  When making veggie tray I make celery moons, broccoli trees, carrot stars, zucchini sticks, apple boats, whatever it takes to get my child interested and engaged...invested...I guess it paid off.
Oh man, I have so much to tell all of you about the great things that I've discovered!  If you have a toddler...order a home popsicle making kit...blend up some banana's...pop in a couple of blueberries for color and when they want a snack...bam!  Not only will they be eating a whole banana with each popsicle, but they are getting a special treat, and you can feel no guilt...heck, you should eat one too!!  Mix in some coconut butter, fresh pineapple and a couple of whole raspberries...get creative with it...
Send me some Ideas!
