healthy meat; is there such a thing anymore?

Here we are, talking about food again!
I am interested in the prospect of healthy meat and if it can be bought in a store...Around here, we catch
salmon, halibut, cod, and harvest sitka black tail deer for our meat source, but most people buy it in a store.

There is evidence showing that animals that are free and grass fed are healthier as an individual, as well as a healthier meat source. I think that farmer's markets may be the best bet for finding "healthy" cuts of meat if you're not the hunting type. Animals that are fed grain are NOT natural...Animals should be free range and REALLY expensive....They are what they eat, and we are what we eat, so if you choose to eat meat, you should care about what that meat ate!!! whew...tongue twister.

Having grown up in Alaska, I feel that there is something to say about animals having a thankful and humane death. Hunting represents an ancient practice, and a connection between man and animal that has been lost in our society.

Meat that you buy in a grocery store has had an absolutely horrid life.

Kids do not know where their hamburger comes from. No one know's where chicken nuggets come from. Meat is unrecognized as an animal in the store. It's as if steak is a separate entity from the slobbering animal that scats all over itself and the food it eats!

Meat...it's interestingly the beginning of meals...you pick a meat and plan around your "cut," picking side dishes that go with it...

Not too long ago, I heard someone say, that they hung a note on their fridge reminding them that "salad is the MAIN course," and if this is the case...dinner just became a whole lot easier!
