is coffee healthy?

My crutch...coffee. I have been drinking ALOT of it lately...and oddly, I am much more drained of energy.
I am thinking this through people...so coffee is a diuretic and a stimulant...some call it a drug, but I wouldn't go that far...come on people, it's all I have! is this "drug" stripping my body of the nutrients that it needs? Does it make me eat more because of this? I am really feeling like coffee is holding me
back (crutch-like) instead of holding me up (crutch-like.)

As I sit here, drinking my tall  boy coffee, I know that it's not good, but still, the need for justification is eminent.

I need a break from this vicious cycle...and speaking of this mentality of having to have it every day, going to the store specifically for coffee because you know if you don't have it in the morning its going to be a bad situation, needing a midday boost of coffee, creepily reminiscent of a hard core person in need of an intervention!

Okay, to the three people who look at this web diary...a....promise and a pledge to quit drinking coffee, for a month, has been made, by yours truly, moi. starting tomorrow.

  1. Moderation, baby! That is the key! Be prepared for a caffeine headache if you go cold turkey! Love you! with or without the coffee!

  2. The "moderation" thing is a valid and important point...the committee has reviewed that comment, at first rejecting it, in an obvious display of denial. In the end it's been accepted and embraced as the next step towards controlling my abuse, and turning it into a "healthy" habit instead of a necessity.

So the first day; I forgot and had coffee anyways! Today i survived with a single bag of black tea! That's right, I vowed off the coffee, but tea is fair game!!! No caffeine headache...and you know what...I am keeping my teabag all day, because only I can stop myself, and right now i am too weak!

  3. well, it's been 9 days! I have still not had a coffee! I am noticeably calmer...There has been 4 caffeinated tea bags, two green teas, and one mint tea. Several days I went completely without a hot beverage...this to me was shocking...did it have to do with my mindset; of not just replacing something else for coffee? I guess coffee wasn't so much a part of me as I thought...it wasn't anything really, just something I felt I may be overusing...we'll talk again when the thirty days are over...maybe an epiphany shall strike between now and then...
